The mission of JunctionHouse is to cultivate a shared civic and cultural commons and to re-imagine a vital role for older community members.

JunctionHouse is a hybrid organization with two parts: a residential, mixed-use building development and JunctionHouse Commons.

JunctionHouse Commons creates, redefines, and enlivens civic and cultural commons through curated and spontaneous conversation, community forums, and cultural programs. It aspires to shift attitudes, spark action, and meet the need for a space in which community discourse can be held in common.

JunctionHouse Commons is a fiscally-sponsored project of Community Initiatives, a nonprofit corporation based in San Francisco, California.

JunctionHouse building & residences. When complete, the building will include public gathering space, headquarters for JunctionHouse Commons, and both permanent and short-term residences. The residences at JunctionHouse will be multi-generational and will allow aging with dignity and community connection. They will meet the desire many have for alternatives to existing models of senior housing.
